Common questions
What does Boardr cost?
Boardr is a free download with a 7-day free trial of every feature. After that it's a one-time lifetime license through the App Store, with no subscription. If you buy it on one Mac, use Restore Purchases in Boardr to unlock it on another Mac signed in with the same Apple Account.
Which board files does Boardr open?
OpenBoardView .brd files, XZZ .pcb files and OpenBoardData .obdata readings, and the design files of open hardware: KiCad boards (.kicad_pcb, KiCad 4 to 10), Eagle boards (.brd from Eagle 6 to 9) and EasyEDA boards (EasyEDA Standard JSON and EasyEDA Pro .epro). For older Eagle and KiCad files, and how to get files out of EasyEDA, see Help, then Where to Find Open Boards, in Boardr.
Does Boardr come with board files?
It comes with 59 open-hardware boards in your library's Open Hardware folder; Help, then Add the Open Hardware Boards puts back any that are missing. They are listed, with their makers, licenses and downloads, on the open hardware page. Commercial board files are not included; add the files you have with Add Boards and Boardr sorts them into the library.
Where can I find more open boards?
In Boardr, choose Help, then Where to Find Open Boards. It lists more open boards Boardr opens, with links to their projects.
How do I back up my library?
Use Back Up Library to save a copy of your library to a folder or drive you choose. To move to another Mac, install Boardr there and use Restore from a Backup.
Does Boardr send my files anywhere?
No. Boardr has no network access and everything stays on your Mac. See the privacy policy.
